Flameworking Workshops

Flameworking is the art of shaping small glass pieces over a benchtop torch. This is one of the oldest forms of glass working, used today to create beads, sculptures, small vessels, pipes, and scientific equipment.

Have you always been fascinated by fire?  Maybe you are interested in finding a new way to express yourself artistically. Come ignite that flame with us! 

In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to use a bench-mounted torch to heat to shape and manipulate glass into a wearable pendant.

Class duration is 3hrs.

Keen to explore flameworking in more depth? Together let’s learn the chemistry and physics of flameworking!

In this full day workshop, we introduce students to the studio, tools and basic techniques required to become proficient in the ways of the flame. You will complete three projects that will build your fundamental glass skills and help you progress along your journey with glass.

Class Duration is 6 hrs.

Learn how to melt rods of soft glass over a table-top flame to make beads and other small items. We will walk you through how to create you own glass beads! From prepping the metal rods, to adding colour, temperature control and how to safely cool your pieces down, this 4 hour class with teach you a lot. Each student will leave with a handful of their own colourful beads.
