About Us

The Artist

Heather Kremen is a glassblower, artist, and educator. She owns Amokura Glass in Rotorua, where she creates fine art glass, elegant functional homeware, and unique decorative objects. Heather is passionate about glass art and works to share that passion as broadly as possible, as an artist and mentor.

Heather began blowing glass in 2007 when she took her first workshop and hasn’t stopped since. In 2017, Heather Kremen decided to move back to New Zealand and take over the glass studio De Flute Glass in Rotorua which has been operating as Amokura Glass ever since. Now she works as an artist, runs the studio and gallery, and teaches glassblowing experiences and classes.

In her fine art practice, Heather’s work incorporates fused and blown glass into intricately patterned vessels. These pieces are on display in the gallery at Amokura Glass and have been displayed in Rotorua and across Aotearoa.

The Studio

Amokura Glass is a woman-owned studio founded by glass artist Heather Kremen in 2017.

We are a small glass blowing studio and gallery that aims to build a creative community around the love of glass. As a working hot glass studio, visitors are invited to experience glassblowing with us. Our hot shop is open to the public, allowing guests to watch our team shape molten glass into a finished piece.

While our focus is primarily glass blowing, our facilities also include studios for fused glass, cast glass, lampworking, and stained glass.

Our studio is located at: 2 Amokura Street, Fairy Springs, Rotorua, Aotearoa NZ
